Universite Paul Sabatier Toulouse III (UPS)

Since its creation in 1969, Université Toulouse III - Paul Sabatier has been expanding its offer of multidisciplinary education in the fields of science, health, engineering, technology and sports, developing one of the most important scientific research clusters in France. As one of the top research establishments in France, UPS is active in public research at the highest level, working with excellence clusters and creating numerous partnerships with major scientific bodies. The 1027 mixed unit titled: "Epidemiology and public health analyses: risks, chronic diseases and disabilities" is a research unit combining two institutional affiliations, the French institute for health and medical research (INSERM) and Université Toulouse III - Paul Sabatier (UPS). The research focus of this unit aims to increase knowledge about the pathophysiological and social determinants, patterns of care and the consequences of chronic diseases. These questions are addressed through a comprehensive approach that considers populations via social, biological, physical and psychological dimensions. This approach places individuals in their social and familial environment, which requires, of course, the implementation of multidisciplinary approaches. The unit houses a number of pathology registries for the local region, has strong links with the institute of mathematics with which statistical modelling methods are developed and carried out, and is experienced in carrying out both clinical and population-level intervention studies.
